Course Synopsis:

The Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Operations is designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills in various aspects of hospitality management with a focus on leveraging technology for strategic planning, efficient facilities management, effective corporate communication, enhanced retail operations, successful e-commerce and online business, optimized food and beverage (F&B) operations, efficient management of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), fostering entrepreneurship, and integrating practical experience through industrial attachment

Course Objectives:

On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and consumer behavior to develop strategic plans for hospitality businesses.
  • Understand the principles of facilities management and apply them to optimize the operational efficiency and guest experience.
  • Develop effective communication strategies to engage with internal and external stakeholders in the hospitality industry.
  • Explore retail management principles and strategies tailored to the hospitality sector.
  • Understand the fundamentals of e-commerce and its applications in the hospitality industry.
  • Gain insights into food and beverage management, including menu planning, procurement, production, and service.
  • Learn the essentials of MICE management, including event planning, venue selection, and logistics coordination.
  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and identify opportunities for innovation and growth in the hospitality sector.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting through an industrial attachment, gaining practical experience and industry exposure.

Modules:

1. Strategic Planning:

This module delves into the intricacies of strategic planning within the hospitality industry, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate dynamic market landscapes.

2. Facilities Management:

In this module, students explore the principles of facilities management and their application in optimizing operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. From maintenance to sustainability, students learn to manage hospitality facilities effectively, utilizing technology-driven solutions for tasks such as maintenance scheduling, security management, and energy conservation.

3. Corporate Communication

This module focuses on the importance of effective corporate communication in building and maintaining a positive reputation for hospitality organizations. Students learn to develop communication strategies tailored to internal and external stakeholders, utilizing digital platforms and tools for corporate branding, public relations, and crisis communication.

4. Retail Operations:

This module explores retail management principles and strategies adapted to the unique context of the hospitality sector. From merchandising to inventory management, students learn to optimize retail operations for enhanced guest experiences and profitability.

5. E-Commerce and Online Business:

In this module, students examine the growing importance of e-commerce and online business in the hospitality industry. Through case studies and practical exercises, students learn to develop and implement online marketing strategies, booking systems, and revenue management techniques.

6. Food and Beverage Operations:

This module provides students with a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage management within hospitality establishments. From menu planning to kitchen operations, students learn to optimize F&B operations for quality, efficiency, and profitability.

7. Entrepreneurship:

This module fosters an entrepreneurial mindset among students, empowering them to identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and growth within the hospitality sector. Students learn to develop business plans, conduct feasibility studies, and pitch entrepreneurial ventures to potential investors.

8. Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions:

This module is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the events industry, focusing on the planning, management, and execution of various types of business events. Additionally students will explore the key concepts, principles, and practices involved in organizing successful meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.

9. Project*:

Participation in an industrial attachment is mandatory and forms an essential component of the course. In the event that a student is unable to secure a suitable internship due to circumstances beyond the college’s control, the alternative requirement will be the completion of a Project Work (Project in lieu of IA will be of 3 months duration).

Assessment Method:Students will be assessed by a variety of Assignments and Presentations
Graduation Criteria:Students who have successfully completed the course by passing every module will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Operations by AceTek College
