Acetek College was set up in 2009 as a corporate industrial training provider specializing in training baking supplies manufacturers around the region. The College, then known as the Cerealtech School of Baking Technology (CSBT) dedicated itself to the refining of industrial manufacturing processes of its clients to achieve higher yield and consistency of finished products.
As a result, CSBT earned a reputation for grooming serious baking professionals who were not only able to bake creative pastries but graduates were also schooled in the art of sound commercial manufacturing principles to ensure every bake was of consistently good enough quality.
In 2020, the new management of CSBT decided to move the school, located in Woodlands’s industrial heartlands, nearer to the city centre. They wanted to make the school more accessible and sought to capitalize on the school’s strength to expand the suite of the training course it would deliver. The school chose to debut in the heart of one of Lion City’s most mature town centres- Bukit Merah Central. Only 10 minutes (or 2 subway stops!) away from the city centre, the Bukit Merah location provided the school with much-needed ease of access for many new learners and has allowed the school to grow from strength to strength.
Alongside the shift, the school was also renamed “ACETEK COLLEGE” to reflect its lineage as a manufacturing training provider that relied on Technology for many of its clients’ solutions. The college’s industrial background resonates to this day through its emphasis on systems-driven training and continuing research and development for new products and services.
Currently, the College has 23 programs listed with the Singapore SkillsFuture (SSG) under the WSQ framework; these courses allow learners who have completed the course successfully to obtain up to 70% course fee funding. Acetek College also partners with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) to provide UTAP training support for NTUC members. The Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is a training benefit for NTUC members to defray their cost of training. This benefit is to encourage more union members to go for skills upgrading.
